What belongs in a correlation briefing pack

A pack should be quotable in minutes — charts alone without window definitions rarely survive contact with a sceptical chair.

A briefing pack earns its keep when someone can cite it three months later. That means window definitions, index identifiers, and episode dates sit beside the charts — not in a footnote the chair never opens.

We structure packs around questions the kickoff named: which links held in calm years, which broke in agreed stress windows, and which relationships remain too noisy to treat as policy inputs. Ambiguity is written as ambiguity. Committees trust that more than a forced ranking of every pair.

Live sessions then spend time on challenge. If the pack tries to answer every possible co-movement question, the session becomes a tour. Better a shorter document that leaves room for disagreement on the record.

When you commission work, ask to see a sample table of contents at skeleton stage. Redirecting emphasis there is cheaper than rewriting finished charts.
